Lucas public schools rank sixth among 2019 Dallas suburbs with best public schools and its principal high school, Lovejoy High School, ranks third among the 2019 best open enrollment high schools in the DFW metroplex. Lucas has experienced the twenty-fourth fastest population growth rate in the Dallas Fort Worth area over the past three years and has the fourteenth highest percentage of owner-occupied homes of all Dallas suburbs. Lucas's prevailing tax rate is in the bottom quartile of property tax rates in the Dallas area.
