Westlake, which until a few years ago was mostly ranch land, is now being developed in a decidedly upscale way. Its two principal residential real estate developments have been the luxury homes neighborhoods of Glenwyck Farms and Vaquero, but recently new custom-built luxury homes have begun being built in the Entrada, Granada and Terra Bella neighborhoods.

Westlake also is home to Vaquero Golf Club, generally acknowledged by the local golfing community as one of the DFW metroplex's two best country clubs, regional offices of Fidelity Investments and CoreLogic and Deloitte's national training center. Westlake is located in north Tarrant County.
