Most students living in Highland Park are eligible to attend Highland Park ISD schools. The relatively few students residing in Highland Park who live west of the Dallas North Tollway attend Dallas ISD schools. All University Park public school students attend Highland Park ISD schools.

Bradfield Elementary School, University Park Elementary School, Highland Park Middle School and Highland Park High School additionally earned spots on the 2018 Texas best high schools, 2018 Texas best middle schools and 2018 Texas best elementary schools rankings.

As demonstrated by their Texas Education Agency (TEA) 2017 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) scores, schools attended by most Highland Park students and all University Park students are among the best public schools in Texas. More than 90 percent of students who attend all seven of the Highland Park ISD schools met or exceeded the Texas Education Agency (TEA) achievement test standard.

The 2017 Accountability Rating for all thirteen of the campuses serving the park cities area is Met Standard, currently the TEA top campus and district rating. Highland Park ISD and Dallas ISD both received Met Standard ratings and Highland Park ISD is ranked among the 2018 best school districts in Texas.
